The principal activities of Helaba Dublin Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen International consist of the granting of long and short-term loans to banks and non-banks outside Ireland in addition to the provision of investor administration services. The legal form of the bank is that of a private unlimited company. It is wholly owned by Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen Girozentrale Frankfurt am Main/ Erfurt (Helaba) which is a 100% shareholder.
Background of the Bank
Helaba Dublin was founded in November 1990. On 1st of December 1993, the company received its banking licence from the Central Bank of Ireland, the first German company in the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) to do so.
Debt Ratings
Helaba has submitted a letter of comfort to the Central Bank of Ireland in favour of Helaba Dublin. The amount of paid-up capital currently stands at EUR 125,000,000. In view of its legal status and the assertion by the parent company that it will always be in a position to meet its liabilities, Helaba Dublin is assigned a short term debt rating of "A-1"/"F1+" and a long-term senior unsecured debt rating of "A"/"A+" by Standard & Poor's rating agency and Fitch Rating Agency.
RefinancingRefinancing of Helaba Dublin’s activities takes place in the inter-bank sector through customer deposits and placing of its own "Schuldscheindarlehen" with non-Irish institutional investors.
